I need a new lip-moisturizer

So those who know me well know that I am a minimalist. Or okay, at least a wannabe minimalist.
If possible, I want everything to be simple. Simple and effective. This, of course, goes down all the way to what I put on my skin, my face, and in this case, specifically, my lips.

I've pretty much run the whole gamut of trying what is the best thing to put on my lips to keep them soft, smooth and supple. The last thing I want is dry, chapped lips in the winter or anytime of the year for that matter!

This brings me to my quandry. My lip ___ sucks.

I used to love lip gloss-- the thick, glossy kind you put on that your hair would get stuck on if the wind blew it that way, but then I realized it wasn't too practical. Sure, it would stay a decent amount of time, provided great moisturizing and sometimes a wonderful essence of color to my pout. However, the stickiness got to me. There'd be gloss on my cups, on my food, AHH... you get the point.

So I switched to chapstick. Not as fun, not as glamorous. It's definitely more practical though. I think of it as switching from red designer stilletos to standard brown flats. Not trendy ballet flats though, but more like loafers actually. Yes, that is a better analogy. I switched to comfortable loafers. These chapsticks I tried were very practical. They were not sticky, and after half an hour I was not regretful of putting it on. But now...I am losing confidence in the effectiveness of chapsticks.

I thought that giving up the glam factor was already a sacrifice. But now I have to add on that it's still making my lips dry. So what's the point of wearing chapstick, as is the same of what's the point of wearing ugly brown loafers, if they're not effective in comfort and dryness protection?

It's not even very late in the cold season yet...we still have many months, many winter chills and snowfalls to come, and my lips are becoming dry despite my hope in my chapstick. This, of course, is a great misfortune.

So far, the only thing that has not let me down is applying Vaseline on my lips. I love Vaseline! It's so mulitpurpose, but we'll save that for another entry.

To end this, I beg...if anyone knows of a fabulous lip gloss/chapstick they would recommend to me, please let me know!
